Caitlin Kolb

Caitlin Kolb

Caitlin Kolb is the founder of The Movement Care Collective and the founder and owner of Pilates Done Differently. She specializes in post-rehab care and is known citywide for her unique approach to Pilates.

Caitlin was certified through Body Arts and Sciences International in 2006, but it was through her own journey with the care of talented, trauma-informed practitioners that she discovered the power of breath, slowing down, and supporting the emotional body in her movement practice. Every day she strives to share that healing gift with others, blended with her very detailed, functional approach to movement. With more patience, care, and generosity, she knows Pilates can be a powerful tool for healing.

Her ability to read bodies and artfully move her clients through pain-free sequencing comes from her Pilates certification, years as a professional dancer, mentorship with leading physical therapists, and her education as a fitness trainer.

Caitlin believes mind-body movement experiences should be accessible to all, not just the few with the most resources. She envisions a world where Pilates-based work is no longer a luxury service, and is offered beyond traditional fitness spaces. Through founding The Movement Care Collective and Pilates Done Differently, Caitlin is working to increase accessibility and to bring Pilates back to its roots as a therapeutic modality.

While she’s been a lifelong mover and movement coach for 16 years, Caitlin’s first love is providing support, building relationships, and helping people find their strength and self-compassion. Her values form the foundation of her teaching, leadership, and business vision.

Tingzin Ellis

Tingzin Ellis

For the past 25 years, Pilates has been a constant and evolving practice in Tingzin’s life, helping her to relieve anxiety and heal from two spinal injuries and a traumatic brain injury. Her first breakthrough was understanding how focused and intentional breathing could help liberate her from patterns of pain. This is just one of the many insights that informs her work with clients, helping to empower them through discussion, collaboration, and practice. She finds joy in holding space for her clients to explore and become more present and connected to their bodies.

Tingzin was certified in the Pilates Method through Turning Point Studios in 2008 and completed her CoreAlign training in 2019. She has special training in the field of Foot and Gait Therapy and with working with the older adult population. Her curiosity about the human body and movement will never tire because there is always so much more to learn.

Being a part of The Movement Care Collective is something Tingzin is passionate about because she believes her industry can and should strive to create access to Pilates for underserved communities.

Ryann Summers

Ryann Summers is a trauma-informed yoga teacher based in Brooklyn, NY. She lived and practiced in San Francisco for almost a decade, where she met Caitlin and the amazing team at The Movement Care Collective.

Ryann draws on her background in counseling and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence to create a safe and empowering space. While she tends towards more slow and deliberate movement–like restorative, yin, and functional yoga–her teaching is ultimately guided by each student’s needs.

Ryann believes the powerful healing that movement and breath can offer should be available to all. As a member of The Breathe Network, she is committed to offering sliding scale support. Ryann has worked with many individuals one-on-one and in small groups, especially those experiencing anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. She facilitated the Yoga as Healing program at UCSF and USF in San Francisco. Ryann continues to offer trauma-informed support both online and in-person in Brooklyn.

Karla Quintero

Karla Quintero draws from Pilates to condition, repattern, and heal. Pilates, in combination with somatics, has been a valuable tool for learning about how to move with ease and shift restrictive movement patterns. Karla finds power and joy in working in partnership with others to learn how we move and the ways in which this embodied knowledge can support physical and emotional well being. She shares pilates methods with people in her life - friends, colleagues, family members - both young and old, across language and cultures, to invite curiosity in the body as a catalyst for change.

Karla is currently training at Pilates Done Differently with Caitlin Kolb & Tingzin Ellis, two pioneers in the therapeutic pilates field. She is excited about working with them to increase access, in particular for Spanish speakers in the region. As a professional dancer, she also hopes to orient her work to support individuals working in the Arts.
